Beijing Auto Show: International taste is much worse

The 2004 Beijing International Automobile Exhibition opened in Beijing in the fiery summer. Different from previous years, this year's auto show is considered by industry professionals to be more of an "International Auto Show." In addition, the media has listed Beijing Auto Show as the sixth-largest international auto show after Frankfurt, Paris, Tokyo, Geneva, and Detroit. However, the reporter heard another voice at the auto show on June 9.

At present, China has become the world’s fourth largest automobile producer and the third largest consumer of automobiles. The Beijing Auto Show has naturally become a stage for automakers at home and abroad. At the auto show, carefully crafted cool cars have appeared. Accompanied by these cool cars is a tall, glamorous car model. They are either chilly or innocent, or look hot or passionate. With the rotation of the auto show stand, some models are performing various kinds of performances from time to time. Compared with the exhibited cars, it seems to be more eye-catching. It is no wonder that the media has promoted this auto show with a big title of "Car glare and eye-catching." While people are rushing to catch a glimpse of famous cars, what may be even more impressive is these models.

Compared to the bustling "car beauty" combination, some large-scale machinery and automotive electrical exhibition booths are a little deserted. At the booth of Siemens VDO, the transparent and naked electric display of the car is unique. However, most of the spectators hurried past this booth and went away with a glance.

At the beginning of the exhibition, some exhibitors had complained about the auto show organizers. From the specific issues of the organization, management, and service of the exhibition, to the format and scale of the exhibition itself, there are more or less criticisms. Mr. Wang, an auto parts manufacturer from Shanghai, believes that although it is an international auto show, many cars are produced domestically. The so-called international auto show, its international taste is still too bad. As exhibitors, the reason why they come to the exhibition is not because the exhibition organization, management, and service are doing much better, but they value the Beijing market. "In fact, we feel that whether it is organization, management or service, it is very poor."

Yang Chengzu, deputy manager of Siemens VDO Automotive Sales in China, said that he originally applied for a 200-square-meter booth, but in the end it only gave 65 square meters, which made it impossible for them to deploy. At the same time, there are only 6 tickets for exhibitors. “Our professional technicians and customers are unable to come in. More than 10 directors in charge of production and sales who came from France and Germany on June 9 stood outside the gate of China International Exhibition Center for more than two hours. Come in.” Yang Chengzu believes that the price of the Beijing Auto Show booth is US$260/m2, which is almost the same as that of the Tokyo Motor Show. However, service and management are far behind. "Moreover, on the 9th is the media day, there are actually many students who look like they come to visit." As they said, a group of armed policemen who were arranged in a row passed the booth. "What is this? Is this necessary?" Many people come to join in, and some directly ask for gifts? It's just awesome.

Another exhibitor from Beijing Qidonglong company staff said that only gave them two tickets for the company, and the distributors could not get in. There was no way to go out for another one to come in. It was particularly inconvenient. Want to buy tickets, did not even root. Like the Frankfurt Motor Show, it is completely price-controlled, with 200 euros on the first day and 100 euros on the second day, but there is no question of buying tickets. The auto show ticket office did not sell tickets and sold them after the 12th. Those who wanted to come in and see the scene here would only be able to "exhibit".

The reporter also heard the staff complained at the auto show site that people are all looking at the beauty. They are not looking at the car. Yang Chengzu, deputy general manager of China sales of Siemens VDO Automotive Electronics, once participated in many large-scale auto shows. He was very strange about the form of the “car beauty” of the domestic auto show. He believes that this is a low-level operation, apparently to attract beautiful women. Yang Chengzu said that the protagonist of a large-scale foreign auto show is a car. It is entirely based on the car and focuses on the design concept and superior performance of the car. Another Ms. Huang said that she hopes that the domestic auto show will truly develop in the direction of internationalization.
