Chen Hong, president of SAIC , confirmed this week to the media that the company is indeed interested in taking over the related automotive business of LDV , a British manufacturer of light commercial vehicles . Chen Hong said that SAIC Group may acquire the commercial vehicle manufacturer LDV, which is based in Birmingham, including its local company. He said: "We have already organized a delegation to negotiate with the British company on the acquisition."
Chen Hong also stated that at the end of 2010, SAIC Motor will start production of its self-developed MG 6 (MG 6) sedan at the Longbridge plant in Birmingham.
Earlier, Chen Hong disclosed in an interview that SAIC will join hands with local British companies to acquire LDV light commercial vehicle manufacturing company in Birmingham.
