Of the 1.333 million tons of synthetic rubber produced by the China Synthetic Rubber Industry Association in 2005, 93% were based on butadiene. Therefore, the technical level of butadiene production, the market supply and demand situation and the price trend have an important impact on the technical and economic indicators and competitiveness of the synthetic rubber industry.

Hu Jie pointed out that although butadiene production companies are currently doing well, this depends to a large extent on the market. At present, there is still a big gap between China's existing energy consumption indicators and international advanced indicators; innovation in process technology is not enough; more advanced butadiene extraction technology processes, as well as large-scale single-scale production and large-scale equipment, etc. There is still a lot of work to be done.
