Adhere to attack and promote new strategies to meet the peak demand for air separation equipment

With the rapid development of China's economy, especially the continuous and steady development in the fields of metallurgy, petrochemicals, petroleum, and chemical fertilizers in recent years, it has brought rare development opportunities to the large-scale air separation equipment industry. Industry analysts believe that the demand for large air separation equipment in these areas will usher in a new round of peaks in the next few years.

Market demand continues to increase

From the perspective of the development of the metallurgical industry, the state has focused on the development of some high-tech steel products with high added value. Yang Yongyuan, an expert in China's metallurgical industry, once analyzed “balanced steel production”. He believes that “balanced steel production” is a steel output when a country's steel output reaches a certain level and reaches equilibrium (saturation). The time for China to achieve "balanced steel production" is expected to be around 2015, when China's steel production will reach 450 to 500 million tons. According to the scale of 1 million m3/h to 15,000 m3/h of oxygen required for the production of 1 million tons of steel, the demand for air separation equipment in the metallurgical industry will be 1.5 million m3/h to 2.25 million m3/h in the past decade. . Coupled with the renewal and renovation of the old air separation plant, the total demand for the air separation plant of the steel industry will reach 3 million to 3.75 million m3/h within a decade. Because of the different conditions of iron and steel enterprises, if 30,000 grade air separation equipment is used as the boundary, the oxygen production capacity of large-scale air separation plants and medium- and small-size air separation plants each account for half, then 50 to 60 sets of air separation equipment of 30,000 grades and above are required. The estimated number of small and medium-sized air separation equipment below 30,000 grades is 150-180 sets.

At present, the steel industry is undergoing mergers and reorganizations. In the long run, the demand for large air separation equipment will increase. However, in the near term, some of the planned procurement of equipment may be shelved due to the sharing of assets and equipment among enterprises. .

As one of the alternative energy sources for coal-to-oil projects, according to the current projects under construction, its investment ratio is approximately 110 million yuan / 10,000 tons of coal-based oil products. According to the existing plans, a coal-to-oil ratio of 30 million tons/year will be formed in 2015. In the past decade, this area will invest RMB350 billion. According to the current state of the art, the proportion of demand for air separation equipment for coal-to-oil projects is between 350,000 m3 and 14,000 m3 oxygen per 100,000 tons of coal-based oil products. According to this ratio, by 2015, the demand for air separation equipment in this area will reach 4.15 million to 4.2 million/m3.

In recent years, China's methanol production has increased year by year, especially in the past three years, the annual growth rate is more than double digits. According to the plan, by the year 2015, the methanol production will reach 30 million tons. To this end, it will add about 2.53 million m3/h of auxiliary air separation plant capacity.

The air separation equipment used in the field of coal chemical industry is generally of large size. For the air separation equipment currently signed in the coal chemical industry, there are more air separations of 50,000 to 60,000 grades. Calculated by 50,000 airspace, there will be about 135 sets of equipment demand in the coal-to-oil and methanol fields.

Ethylene is a basic raw material for the development of synthetic rubber, synthetic plastics, and synthetic fibers. The production of ethylene is an important indicator of the development level of a country's petrochemical industry. According to statistics, in 2004, China produced 6,265,719 tons of ethylene, a year-on-year increase of 2.38%; in 2005, it produced 755,5274.6 tons of ethylene, a year-on-year increase of 20.43%. However, the consumption of ethylene equivalent in 2005 reached 18.76 million tons, and domestic ethylene production can only meet about 40% of demand. It is expected that ethylene production will reach 25 million tons in 2015 and nearly 40 million tons in 2020. According to such a speed of development, by the decade of 2015, it will be necessary to add about 900,000 m3/h of supporting air separation plant capacity, and it is estimated that 30 sets of air separation equipment will be needed.

China's annual production of fertilizer is 45.2 million tons, ranking first in the world. The change in production in the next ten years will be less, mainly due to changes in raw materials, from naphtha and heavy oil to coal, or "oil to coal". According to statistics, a 300,000-ton/year chemical fertilizer plant needs a 48,000 m3/h air separation plant when “oil is converted to coal”.

In summary, according to the national economic development plan, by 2015, China's total air separation equipment demand is 10.5 million to 11.4 million m3/h oxygen equivalent, and the average annual demand is 1.04 million to 1.14 million cubic meters per hour. Equivalents, it is estimated that 20 to 25 sets of air separation equipment of 30,000 and above will be required, and all types of medium and small air separation equipment will not be counted. (Some small and medium air separation equipment have great development in other applications, although the oxygen capacity is not large More sets).

Tackling large air separation equipment

There is no doubt that with the development of the metallurgical industry, coal-to-oil, methanol, ethylene, and COREX industries, new requirements have been put forward for the development of the technology while requiring equipment to be more large-scale.

At present, the specifications of air separation equipment in the coal chemical industry are generally more than 50,000 m3/h. Industry insiders believe that the 50,000m3/h air separation plant will be the standard configuration in the coal chemical industry in the future, and it is also a relatively low specification configuration.

So far, Air Liquide, Linde, and American Air Products Company (APCI) have more than 90,000 m3/h of air separation equipment in operation, and more than 100,000 m3/h of air separation equipment have also been successfully developed. The largest air separation plant that has successfully operated in China is the 48,000 m3/h air separation plant in Hubei Anqing. By 2007, domestically produced 60,000 m3/h air separation equipment will be successfully installed and commissioned. The current top priority for domestic companies is to increase the development of product technology in the 70,000 to 80,000 m3/h class of air separation equipment, and strive to achieve a zero breakthrough at this level to meet the requirements of coal oil, COREX, etc. , demand for extra large air separation equipment.

In recent years, the development of the internal compression process has successfully met the development needs of the chemical industry. However, the current rise in coal-to-liquids, and even some of the new processes used in the field of metallurgy, and the ensuing IGCC, COREX, etc., have made the requirements for air separation processes more diversified.

According to the current national standards, the cryogenic air separation plant has an oxygen purity of 99.6% or more. This seems to form an idea that the oxygen purity of the cryogenic airspace cannot be lower than 99.6%. However, in fact, many processes also incorporate a certain amount of air in the oxygen produced by the air separation plant to participate in the metallurgical and coal liquefaction process. For cryogenic air separation, reducing the purity of certain oxygen products will reduce the cost of equipment operation. Companies in foreign countries have already conducted research in this area, so that the oxygen produced by the air separation plant can directly reach the purity required for the coal-to-oil process, thereby reducing equipment investment.

Accelerating the international market

Before 2002, the operation of domestic air separation industry enterprises was limited to the design of manufacturing equipment, while foreign companies were all equal in equipment and gas, and even some enterprises, their gas operations were more important than equipment.

In order to catch up with the new international business model, in 2002 Chuankong Group started investing in the field of gas, and successively established several gas plants including Chongqing Yongchuan, Jiangsu Liyang, and Shanxi Changzhi. These gas plants have produced relatively good benefits, and also created a precedent for domestic air separation equipment manufacturers to enter the gas field. Since then, the pace of the domestic enterprises’ entry into the gas field has never stopped.

In recent years, China's air separation industry has actively explored foreign markets on the basis of occupying the domestic market. In 2005, Kaifeng Airspace exported 15,000 m3/h of air separation equipment from Turkey, and Hangyang exported 2 sets of 21,000 m3/h of air separation equipment from Serbia. In August of the same year, Hangzhou Oxygen Co., Ltd. also joined Beijing China National Chemical Construction Corporation and Iran. The Cavi Group signed two supply contracts for 63,000 m3/h air separation equipment. The signing of this contract not only fills the blank of domestic production of 60,000-class extra-large air separation equipment, but also further promotes the technical progress of extra-large air separation equipment.

From the perspective of the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" and the 2020 Vision, even though the air separation industry will continue to be a long period of rapid development, from the point of view of the technological development of the air separation industry, major technical breakthroughs will be the first to come from abroad. Completed by advanced companies. It is worth pondering that after becoming a major country in the manufacturing of air separation equipment, China has become a strong country in the design of air separation equipment, thereby truly laying a leading position in China's air separation in the world's air separation. It will be the goal of every air space man to work hard. .
