1. At present, China has become the world’s second largest oil consumer and importer. In 2004, the net amount of crude oil imports was 121.4 million tons. In 2005, the net imports of crude oil and refined oil were 13617 million tons. In 2006, the net imports of crude oil and refined oil reached 16,287 million tons. In 2007, China’s oil imports reached 163,175 million tons. The degree of dependence on oil soared from 42.9% in 2005 to 47.3% in 2007. The Ministry of Commerce estimates that China’s oil consumption will be 4.5-610 million tons by 2020, and domestic oil production will be 180 million tons by that time, and the external dependence will reach 60%.
With the further development of the national economy, the contradiction between the supply and demand of China's oil will become more prominent, and the dramatic increase in the volume of oil imports will surely adversely affect the country’s energy security. In this context, the Ministry of Science and Technology approved the establishment of a “State Key Laboratory of Coal Liquefaction and Coal Chemical Industry” based on Shanghai Yankuang Energy Science and Technology R&D Co., Ltd., to develop coal liquefaction and coal chemical commonality and key technology research and development, with emphasis on fees. 2. State Key Laboratory of Coal Liquefaction and Coal Chemical Industry The State Key Laboratory of Coal Liquefaction and Coal Chemical Industry is one of the first batch of 36 national key laboratories approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology. The laboratory is located in the Pudong New Area of ​​Shanghai. The pilot plant achieved a long period of 4706 hours. Continuously stable and full-load operation, the technical indicators have reached the leading domestic and international advanced level. The cetane number of diesel produced is more than 75. It is non-sulfur, nitrogen-free and has low content of aromatic hydrocarbons. It is an environmentally friendly oil product; the naphtha produced The total yield of steam cracking triene is >60%, which is a good raw material for ethylene cracking. The laboratory currently undertakes 5 projects of the National 863 Program, obtained 3 scientific and technological achievements, applied for more than 30 patents, obtained 17 authorized patents related to coal liquefaction technology, including 14 invention patents, covering Fischer-Tropsch synthesis catalysts, Fischer-Tropsch synthesis Reactors and internals, Fischer-Tropsch synthesis and Fischer-Tropsch synthesis catalyst reduction process, Fischer-Tropsch synthesis product processing technology and other indirect coal liquefaction key technologies.
