The Feasibility of Determining Total Nitrogen in Soil by Automatic Nitrogen Determinator

For the continuous improvement and development of the degree of agricultural automation, more and more instruments and high-tech machinery are applied, and various parameters are detected and counted. In addition, the analysis and determination of soil nutrients in plant cultivation is an important test content in modern agricultural production. Diversified nutrients in the soil are particularly important for the growth of plants. The total nitrogen content is one of the more current researches. Automatic determination of nitrogen is feasible.

Weigh 0.5 to 1g of air-dried soil sample (need to contain nitrogen about 1mg, accurate to 0.0001g) through a 0.25mm aperture sieve in a 250mL digester tube, add 2.0g mixed catalyst, add 5.0mL acid, and shake. Connect the KDN-04C automatic digestion device to the reflux device or insert the curved neck glass funnel and place it in the digester at low temperature. When the reaction in the tube is mild (about 10-15 minutes), increase the temperature to 380°C. Continue cooking.

After the liquid to be decocted and the soil particles all become grayish and greenish, continue digestion for 1 hour. After digestion and cooling, the KDN-04C automatic nitrogen determination instrument will be distilled. When the soil sample was digested, 2 blanks were measured. Except for no soil sample, all the other operations were the same as when the soil sample was measured. Before distillation, check the automatic nitrogen determination instrument according to the instruction manual, and steam the tube for 0.5 hours.

Then add 50mL of ion-free water, 25mL of 10g·L-1 boric acid-indicator mixed solution, and 40mL of 400g·L-1 sodium hydroxide solution in the KDN-04C automatic nitrogen determination instrument, and input sample quality and standard acid concentration. The digestion tube is placed on an automatic nitrogen determination instrument for distillation and titration. At the same time, two blank tests are performed first. The blank is used to determine the volume of the standard solution used. The KDN-04C automatic nitrogen determination instrument will deduct the blank value and automatically calculate and record the sample. The amount of nitrogen can be printed directly after the test.
