Wuzhong equipment replaces imported large-scale nuclear power processing machine tools

After a three-month tender review, Wuzhong's large-scale nuclear power special processing machine tool, independently developed by the company, has been officially recognized. Yesterday, Wuzhong signed a supply contract with Wuguo Group, the end-user. It is reported that this large-scale nuclear power processing machine marks China's first domestically produced solution of its kind. Mayor Li Xiansheng attended the signing ceremony and expressed his congratulations. Yuan Shanla, a member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and deputy mayor, emphasized the importance of the collaboration between the two "Wu" enterprises. He stated that this partnership will help enhance the equipment manufacturing industry chain and strengthen the independent innovation capability of "Wuhan Manufacturing." The winning equipment, named "Nuclear Power Processing Special CNC Single Column Moving Vertical Turning and Milling Compound Machine Tool," is a non-standard, large-scale special device used to process the core components of nuclear reactors—specifically, the internal structures. Previously, such machines had to be imported from abroad. Wuzhong’s new machine features a self-centering inner column and a ring table, with a processing height of 9.5 meters and a load capacity of 160 tons. It can handle complex operations such as turning cones, grooves, large-diameter planes, and various rotating surfaces. The machine also supports drilling, slotting, milling, boring, and grinding—all in one unit. The contract value is under 20 million yuan, approximately one-third of the cost of imported equivalents. According to reports, Wuzhong started focusing on domestic energy demand several years ago, anticipating the acceleration of nuclear power plant construction. The company proactively built technical reserves, studied advanced foreign technologies, and successfully achieved major equipment replacements for imported products. In addition to signing the first large-scale nuclear power special processing machine tool contract with Wuguo Group, Wuzhong also won the bid for the nuclear power bed of Dongdian Group. It is understood that this year, the country announced plans to build 40 nuclear power plants by 2020. Industry statistics suggest that this initiative could generate over 200 billion yuan in nuclear power equipment orders. With these developments, Wuzhong is well-positioned to play a key role in the growing domestic nuclear power industry.
