Wuzhong equipment replaces imported large-scale nuclear power processing machine tools
After a three-month tender review, Wuzhong's large-scale nuclear power special processing machine tool, independently developed and approved by the company, has been officially recognized. Yesterday, Wuzhong signed a supply contract with Wuguo Group, the client side. This machine tool marks a historic milestone as it is the first of its kind in China.
Mayor Li Xiansheng attended the signing ceremony and extended his congratulations. Yuan Shanla, member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and vice mayor, emphasized the importance of this collaboration between two "Wu" enterprises. He noted that this partnership will help enhance the equipment manufacturing industry chain and strengthen the independent innovation capability of "Wuhan Manufacturing."
The winning equipment, named "Nuclear Power Processing Special CNC Single Column Moving Vertical Turning and Milling Compound Machine Tool," is a non-standard, large-scale special device designed to process the core components of nuclear reactors—specifically, the internal structures of nuclear power generation systems. Previously, such machines had to be imported from abroad.
Developed by Wuzhong, the new machine features a self-centering inner column and ring table, capable of processing up to 9.5 meters in height and supporting loads of 160 tons. It can perform turning, grooving, large-diameter planar cutting, and various rotating surface operations, including drilling, slotting, milling, boring, and grinding. The contract value is less than 20 million yuan, about one-third of the cost of imported alternatives.
According to reports, Wuzhong has been focusing on domestic energy demand for several years, anticipating an acceleration in nuclear power plant construction. The company proactively built technical reserves, studied advanced foreign technologies, and achieved significant progress in replacing imported major equipment with domestic solutions.
In addition to signing the first contract for a large nuclear power special processing machine tool with Wuguo Group, Wuzhong also won the bid for a nuclear power bed from Dongdian Group.
It is reported that this year, the country has planned to build 40 nuclear power plants by 2020. According to industry statistics, this initiative is expected to generate over 200 billion yuan in nuclear power equipment orders, creating substantial opportunities for domestic manufacturers like Wuzhong.
