Even both are 26 years old and are from Hongqiao Town, Yueqing City, Zhejiang Province. Hongqiao is one of the birthplaces of the “Wenzhou model.” Even in the twin worlds, young people in the town, including her parents and mothers, all went to the rest of the world.

According to statistics, in the 1980s and 1990s, more than 90% of the rural laborers in Hongqiao town went out to work and sought business opportunities in major cities such as Beijing, Tianjin and Hangzhou. Therefore, left-behind children were very common in the town at the time.

In September 1986, even though both were born in a village with a population of less than 1,000 people in Hongqiao Town, just three or four months after she was born, my parents went to Hubei to do business and left her to grandparents for support. In the following ten years, her parents moved from Wuhan to Shijiazhuang, to Xi’an, and later to Urumqi, Xinjiang, constantly looking for better business opportunities. The lives of both are not stable. They went to grandmother's house from grandmother's house, and then went to live with other relatives.

Similarly, Wang Zhiqiang is also a left-behind child. He was born in 1984 and stayed in Qimen County, Huangshan, Anhui Province before the age of 16, and was brought up by his grandmother. “When I was a child, I was always looking forward to seeing Mom and Dad for the New Year, but I was afraid of going to the New Year. I was afraid that I would be away after the New Year.” Wang Zhiqiang told reporters that when he was in junior high school, he had dropped out of school due to bad grades, and later he went everywhere. For several years, it was not until the family arranged for marriage that it stabilized.

After 80 parents: Do not let the children stay

“From the moment I have memories, I can only see my parents when I’m in the New Year. Sometimes I don’t see it in years.” Even the pair say that the memories of her parents in her childhood are vague and only remember the sound. Afterwards, she had poor academic performance. She called her mother every time she was blamed. As a result, she did not even answer the phone. In her opinion, the more reprimanded her mother, the more reluctant she is to go to school.

According to information collected by the United Nations Children's Fund, the lack of education and attention of parents to their children will lead to learning lag. The purpose of left-behind children is not clear, their study habits are not good, homework can not be completed, and truancy and dropouts occur from time to time. In addition, there will be a sense of inferiority and rebellion.

There were many people and many things left in the memory of even the twins, but only their parents were very impressed. When she grew up, although she had lived with her parents for several years, she always had a sense of distance.

As Hongqiao locals, even both have chosen to stay home for their children and run steel mills together with their husbands. "Sometimes it's really tiring to go to work every day, but when you come back home and look at your children, you feel that it's worth it." Even her husband said.

Wang Zhiqiang, an Anhuiese, decided to bring his children to Hongqiao to live.

The Wang Zhiqiang family lived in Hongqiao for two years. Now the child is 3 years old. Zhejiang left-behind children 450,000

According to the "National Research Report on the Situation of Left-behind Children" issued by the All-China Women's Federation in 2008, the number of "left-behind children" in rural China exceeds 58 million. 57.2% of left-behind children are parents who go out and 42.8% of left-behind children are parents who go out at the same time. 79.7% of left-behind children are raised by grandfather, grandmother or grandfather and grandmother, 13% are entrusted to relatives and friends, and 7.3% are unsure or unsupervised.

The distribution of these rural left-behind children is also very concentrated, and most of them live in the central and southern provinces. Rural left-behind children in six provinces of Sichuan, Anhui, Henan, Guangdong, Hunan and Jiangxi account for more than half of the total rural left-behind children in the country, reaching 52%.

Ye Jingzhong, deputy dean of the College of Humanities and Development at China Agricultural University, believes that the appearance of stay-at-home phenomenon is based on the development model of the society as a whole led by economic growth and oriented by the urban bias.
