Detailed introduction: ferrous sulphide ore is used for ferro sulphur in free cutting steel smelting/casting, which can improve the cutting performance and mechanical properties of steel effectively. It not only can reduce the cutting force and cutting temperature for significantly improving the tool life, but also can reduce the surface roughness of the workpiece for improving the chip processing property. When the sulfur in cast molten iron is too low, it is harmful to the casting, thereby resulting in poor casting inoculation effect, poor graphite shape and poor cutting performance. Therefore, resulfurization is required. The suitable content in molten iron is 0.07%-0.12. Sulfur makes the length of graphite shorter within the range, the end becomes blunt, and the shape is curved, thereby improving the mechanical properties. China's nitric acid industry core technology has been further breakthrough
On September 19, a reporter learned from Henan Xinxiang Yongchang Chemical Co., Ltd. and Shandong Linyi Yuanjing Chemical New Technology Co., Ltd. that China's first domestically developed 100,000-ton nitric acid production unit has operated continuously for five months under full load, marking a major technological breakthrough. The system has significantly increased the output of by-product steam, rising from 1 ton per hour to 3.6 tons per hour. This achievement brings the technology closer to the standards set by French company GP, positioning China’s nitric acid industry at the global forefront.
The domestic nitric acid plant, which began operations on September 16, 2007, in Henan Xinxiang, marked a milestone as China’s double-pressure nitric acid technology entered the international stage. However, initial steam output was lower than that of similar equipment used by French GP. To address this gap, Shandong Linyi Yuanjing Chemical New Technology Co., Ltd., responsible for design, installation, and commissioning, worked closely with Xi'an Shaanxi Drum Power Co., Ltd., a top domestic manufacturer, to improve performance within just four months after the plant started running.
As a result, the by-product steam output increased from about 1 ton per hour to 3.6 tons per hour. This improvement is estimated to generate an additional RMB 5 million in annual profits for the producing enterprises. Moreover, it brings China’s nitric acid core technology closer to the global standard, representing a significant step forward in industrial competitiveness.
Steam output is a critical performance indicator for such systems. Before the third-generation improvements, the plant required external steam input of 2–3 tons per hour for nitric acid production. With the enhanced system, it can now supply up to 3.6 tons of steam per hour, translating to annual savings of approximately RMB 4.8 million to 5.7 million. Additionally, the improved self-sufficiency in steam reduces the need for auxiliary boilers, cutting construction costs and environmental expenses. Overall, the production cost is significantly reduced, enhancing the enterprise’s competitive edge in the nitric acid industry.
Jing Shuangwu, chairman of Shandong Linyi Yuanjing Chemical New Technology Co., Ltd., who led the project design, stated that the double-pressure nitric acid process technology in China will continue to advance further in engineering applications in 2008. This progress underscores the country’s growing capability in developing advanced chemical technologies independently.
