The domestically produced VLGC marine ultra-low temperature ship plate steel developed by Baosteel was successfully launched.

Recently, the large-scale liquefied petroleum gas carrier (VLGC) developed by Baosteel has been successfully used in the VLGC ship built by Shanghai COSCO Shipyard Engineering Co., Ltd. to fill the blank of the domestic VLGC marine ultra-low temperature ship plate steel.
It is reported that the construction of large-scale liquefied gas carriers has been monopolized by foreign countries due to technical difficulties. In 2012, Jiangnan Changxing Heavy Industry won the first VLGC construction contract in China. Afterwards, Jiangnan Changxing Heavy Industry, COSCO Shipyard, New Yangtze River and other shipyards gradually obtained VLGC orders, but due to the strict performance requirements of VLGC construction, the technical difficulty is large and has been dependent on imports. Baosteel ship's first supply of Baosteel VLGC marine low-temperature steel, thickness specification 8mm-15mm, strict requirements on shape and surface quality; while ensuring yield strength is equal to 390MPa, the control yield ratio is less than or equal to 0.90; while satisfying -60 °C Low temperature impact toughness; chemical composition should be strictly matched to the user's welding consumables. Through strict control over production and technology, technological breakthroughs and stable production have been achieved, highlighting Baosteel's strength in the field of VLGC marine low-temperature steel.
