Cummins Vice President and Chief Technology Officer Hua Qiang Receives Clean Air Award

Recently, John Wall, vice president and chief technology officer of Cummins , was honored with the California Hagensmitsch Clean Air Award 2014 for his outstanding contribution to environmental technologies such as energy saving and emission reduction in his personal career. As one of California's most prestigious awards, the Hagensmitt Award recognizes individuals who are important in improving air quality. There were three winners this year. The other two were professors from the University of California, Irvine and Berkeley.

As we all know, the US Federal Environmental Protection Agency's emissions and air quality standards are the most stringent in the world, and California's own Clean Air Act is tightened. Nearly zero emission standards require advanced environmental protection technologies as support. This is also the original intention of the California Clean Air Award.

The California Air Resources Board confirmed Dr. Huaqiang’s leadership role in developing and applying key technical advantages to help engines achieve near-zero emissions of particulates and nitrogen oxides. As the chief technology officer of Cummins Inc., Dr. Hua Qiang has been actively promoting the environmental awareness of the diesel engine industry during his professional career. He also strongly promoted the government, industry, and enterprises to work together to develop green technology plans in a forward-looking manner.

The Hagensmit Prize was established in honour of the late Dr. Ali Hagansmitt, the father of the science and control of air pollution, in recognition of academic research, environmental policy, technology, public education, community service, etc. The field promotes air quality improvement through unremitting efforts, leadership, and continuous innovation. The selection committee consists of winners of previous years. In order to integrate with the internationalization of air quality and climate change, the scope of the award has been expanded to the global and focused on climate change and mitigation.

   the final products will be 40%-45%tyre oil(fuel oil), carbon blacks and  35% carbon blacks, and 10% steels  and another 5-10% recycling gas(CH4-C4H10).


the main process is that by heating the reactor directly, tyres will be pyrolysised into oil gas;

condensers or cooling pipes will cool the gas down into liquid oil with the help of recycling water;

then the rest gas which could not be cooled down into liquid oil will be recycled into reactor heating system; after oil gas coming out completely, stop heating the reactor, and cool down reactor below 70 degrees; then can open the door and discharge carbon black automatically...
