Volvo Heavy Trucks: Taking the Service Agreement to China
On July 28, Volvo Trucks held a grand launch event for its new D13 FM/FH models in Guangzhou. During the event, the company officially introduced the Blue Card program of its globally renowned Volvo Truck Service Agreement. This service agreement includes three tiers—Blue, Silver, and Gold—designed to offer comprehensive inspection, maintenance, and repair services for after-sales vehicles, ensuring customers enjoy reliable and worry-free support. As the first specialized service agreement in China’s heavy truck market, it is expected to elevate the standardization of after-sales services across the transportation industry.
The Volvo Truck Service Agreement has been successfully implemented in over 20 countries worldwide, particularly gaining widespread recognition in the European market. The Blue Card program under this agreement offers preventive maintenance through the Vehicle Operating Service Program (VOSP), regular inspections by trained technicians, electronic control system checks, and software updates. It also includes free car washes, complimentary parts such as bulbs, fuses, and Volvo motor oil, and VIP treatment at authorized dealers, including priority access to service stations and dedicated technicians. Additional packages like engine oil analysis and trailer maintenance are available for users to customize based on their needs.
Hans Boren, Volvo’s After-Sales Service Director, emphasized that proper preventive maintenance ensures vehicles run smoothly and reduces the risk of unexpected breakdowns. He noted that the Blue Card solution was tailored for the Chinese market, addressing the specific needs of small and medium-sized enterprises. He added that the program aims to protect customer operations and help them stay competitive in a challenging market. Looking ahead, Volvo plans to introduce Silver and Gold programs when the time is right, further enhancing user trust and satisfaction.
Volvo has consistently ranked among the top truck brands in China's road freight logistics market for eight consecutive years. The company has established a robust service network, featuring specialized maintenance centers and mobile service units covering China's expressway network. This ensures that users can receive "all-weather, full-motion" emergency rescue services within 500 kilometers.
Industry experts believe that the introduction of the Volvo Truck Service Agreement brings advanced foreign maintenance concepts into China. Its comprehensiveness, systematic approach, and scalability have earned global recognition. With the current challenges in the truck after-sales market, the program is seen as a strong catalyst, reinforcing Volvo’s leadership in the Chinese logistics sector.
Volvo Trucks, part of the Volvo Group, was founded in 1928 and is headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden. It is one of the largest truck manufacturers in Europe and North America. In 2005, it surpassed all Japanese brands and became the leading imported truck brand in China. Today, Volvo continues to expand its service network across major Chinese cities, offering full logistics solutions and “full-motion†after-sales support.
