2-11 Alarm fire in Chicago on Clark Street, 12-22-18 (more)
On December 22, 2018, two 2-11 alarm fires occurred in Chicago. The first one took place at 7051 N. Clark Street. I arrived about 40 minutes into the fire and found the scene fully engaged with a defensive operation in progress. Multiple hand lines and master streams were actively working to contain the blaze. I captured several photos of the new Engine 59 and Engine 71 pumping water, as well as Engines 102 and 70. Tower Ladder 21 was on standby but never deployed any water during my time there.
The images show firefighters in action, with heavy smoke filling the air and emergency vehicles responding swiftly. Among the units seen were Squad 2A, Engine 70, and Engine 59. Deputy Fire Commissioner Tim Sampey was also present at the scene. The photos provide a real-time look at the intensity of the fire and the professionalism of the responders.
