From the Chicago Police Department Facebook page: Today, Chicago police officers, alongside Chief of Patrol Fred Waller and Deputy Chief of Community Policing Dwayne Betts, revealed a brand-new look for CPD patrol vehicles—marking the first major redesign in decades. The fresh design was created by Officer Jennifer Jacobucci and chosen through a collaborative process involving both officers and community members. It keeps the classic blue and white colors, along with the department's iconic slogan: “We Serve & Protect.†In addition to the updated exterior, these next-gen patrol cars come equipped with advanced technology. Each vehicle features mobile computers that allow officers to access real-time data on the go, as well as enhanced lighting systems to improve visibility and community engagement. Some units, like the one showcased today, are also fitted with license plate reader technology—helping officers quickly identify stolen vehicles with greater accuracy than ever before. The new fleet will begin rolling out later this year, but you can get a first look at the Chicago Auto Show at McCormick Place, running from February 9 to 18. If you're interested in joining the force, stop by the CPD booth to sign up for the May 2018 police exam or visit www.bethechangeCPD.com for more details. Stay tuned for more updates as CPD continues to modernize and serve the community better than ever! These images give you a closer look at the redesigned police cars that are set to hit the streets soon. The new models not only look sharper but are also packed with tools to help officers do their job more efficiently and safely.
