On Wednesday, April 1st, 2015, at around 11:00 AM, Skokie firefighters responded to a residential fire at 9163 Lincoln Avenue. At the time, several Skokie fire companies were already on EMS calls, which made the response more challenging. A "header" was immediately sent out to all available units, and a Box Alarm was requested before arrival. This led to assistance from neighboring departments, including Evanston, Wilmette, and Morton Grove, as well as units for change of quarters.
Adam Levinson shared some photos from the scene, capturing the intensity of the situation. He noted that the fire was quickly under control, and no injuries were reported. The images show firefighters preparing to enter the burning home, operating hoses, and working together to contain the blaze.
Steve Redick provided a video clip of the incident, offering a real-time view of the emergency response. Meanwhile, Larry Shapiro shared additional photographs taken after the fire had been extinguished, showing the aftermath and the presence of Skokie Fire Department and police units on the scene.
The radio traffic from the event gives further insight into how the emergency was managed, with clear communication between units and coordination with surrounding departments. The quick response and cooperation between agencies helped ensure a swift and effective resolution to the incident.
This Box Alarm highlighted the importance of preparedness and inter-agency collaboration during emergencies. No one was injured, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
