This is from Tim Olk: I was on my way home from Monroe, Wisconsin, after attending a fire school. As I passed through Rockford, the Clinton Fire Department responded to a Mabas Box Alarm for a house fire. When they arrived, heavy smoke was already coming from the C&D corner of the house, which was a back porch right off the kitchen. The structure was a 2 1/2-story wood-frame home, approximately 30 by 50 feet. Because it was a balloon-frame construction, the fire had already spread to the first and second floors, as well as the attic. A firefighter and the state fire marshal were called to the scene to assist with the investigation.
