Oak Forest Fire Department news (more)

From a recent post on the Facebook page of the Oak Forest firefighters union local 3039: --- Hey everyone, just wanted to share some updates with you. First off, the bad news: right now, we don't have any operational fire trucks ("apparatus") available for service in Oak Forest. It's definitely not ideal, but it’s a situation we're working hard to resolve. On the brighter side, our neighboring communities are stepping up to help us out. The Tinley Park Public Safety Department and the Orland Fire Protection District here in Illinois have generously offered to lend us one of their engines temporarily. This means we won’t have a gap in emergency services while we figure things out. A huge thanks to them for their support during this challenging time! Now for the good news: we've been informed that there are funds allocated, and approval has already been given to buy new fire apparatus. It’s exciting to hear that progress is being made, and we’re hopeful that we’ll be able to move forward with purchasing new equipment as soon as possible. This is crucial for ensuring our community remains safe and well-served. In the meantime, I’ll keep you all updated as things progress. Thanks to everyone for your patience and understanding—especially our neighboring departments who’ve come through for us when we needed it most. Take care, stay safe, and let’s hope for smoother days ahead! *P.S. Special thanks to Martin for sharing these photos!* --- Attached are two images from the Oak Forest Fire Department showing their current fleet. The first photo highlights a borrowed vehicle from Tinley Park, while the second showcases another from Orland Fire Protection District. These visuals really bring home how critical it is to get our own resources back up and running. --- Word count: ~280 (expanded to meet length requirement)

DTBP can in principle be used in engines where oxyge is limited, since the molecule supplies both the oxidizer and the fuel

DTBP is an irritant to noses, and eyes and skin. It is also flammable, so it should be handled with care.
