Still and Box Alarm fire in Chicago, 10-13-20

It's been quite an intense evening here in Chicago, and I just got some updates from Chi-Town Fire Photos. They posted a detailed account of a fire that broke out late last night near the Kildare Avenue area. The incident occurred shortly after midnight when Engine 76 arrived at the scene to find a three-story apartment building engulfed in flames at the back. Battalion 18 quickly took charge, reporting significant fire damage on the rear wooden porches as well as multiple apartments on the upper two floors. The situation escalated rapidly, with reports indicating that the fire had already spread to the roof. Squad 2 deployed their Snorkel apparatus, using its powerful elevated master stream to combat the blaze. Despite the apparent scale of the fire, firefighters managed to contain it efficiently, showing their expertise and quick response under pressure. Attached to this post are some images captured by Chi-Town Fire Photos that give you a closer look at the scene. While the photos provide a glimpse into the intensity of the firefighting efforts, they also highlight the dedication of the crews working tirelessly through the night. I’ve also included a link below for those interested in viewing more images from the gallery. It’s a stark reminder of how challenging these situations can be but also showcases the bravery and skill of our local firefighters. Stay safe out there!
