EMI products are widely used in military chassis, shelters, shielding rooms, micr-darkrooms, low radiation communication equipment, medical and testing equipment. While solving the contradiction between ventilation, heat dissipation, and EMI of the equipment, the product is designed to be waterproof, rainproof, and dustproof. Chicago Engine 77 – some final history (part 1)
I recently received some photos from Dan McInerney capturing Engine 77’s firehouse on its last day before being shut down. Here are some notes on what each image shows:
The first pair of photos feature the hose tower—there’s one shot taken from above and another from below. In the lower shot, you can see the bricks with “W.E.D CO. Load Bearing†embedded in them. It’s fascinating because it seems like these bricks were designed to support the weight of the hose as it extends above the roofline.
Another interesting photo is a close-up of the bricks taken from the second floor, looking upward. The inscription suggests they were meant to bear significant structural load, which makes sense given their placement near the hose tower.
There’s also a photo showing the apparatus floor, taken from the stairs leading up. You can see the turnout gear “locker,†which was more of an open space behind the rig where one coat was left hanging. There’s another image of the watch bed, which looks like it might have been used by firefighters keeping an eye on things overnight.
Other notable shots include the kitchen, giving a glimpse into the living quarters, and the bay area where the fire trucks would be parked. One particular image focuses on gear neatly stored away, while another highlights the general layout of the apparatus floor.
Finally, there’s a shot of the kitchen itself, complete with appliances and countertops, offering a look at the daily life of the firefighters who called this place home. All in all, these photos provide a poignant look at a piece of Chicago firefighting history before it disappears forever.
Ventilation openings are one of the main leakage areas of electromagnetic waves. EMI wave-guide window use the principle of cutoff waveguides to solve the contradiction between ventilation and shielding. The characteristics of this series of ventilation waveguides are excellent ventilation performance and extremely high shielding performance.
