Chicago house fire 7-28-13

Sunday morning at around 8:15, a fire broke out in a 25x50, 1.5-story brick building located on the 900 block of North Harding in Chicago's 13th Battalion area. Engine 95 was the first unit to arrive on the scene and quickly reported that the house was fully engulfed in flames upon their arrival. The fire seemed to have originated from an enclosed wooden porch at the back of the structure. This property had been unoccupied for some time and had unfortunately experienced multiple break-ins prior to the incident. As the fire intensified, it spread to the neighboring house to the north, causing significant damage to its frame dormer. Firefighting efforts were coordinated by Engine 95 and Engine 76, with support from Trucks 35, 26, and 36 acting as RIT units under the supervision of the 12th Battalion. The situation was challenging, but firefighters worked diligently to contain the blaze and prevent further destruction. Attached are photos taken by Eric Haak, capturing various aspects of the incident, including the intensity of the fire, the brave firefighters on the scene, and the damaged properties. These images provide a glimpse into the scale of the emergency response and the dedication of those who risk their lives to protect others.
