CTA train derails – EMS Plan I, 10/31/15
This just happened earlier today — a CTA train derailed near the Still & Box Alarm on West Granville Avenue, close to 1119 W. Granville. I was there taking photos when it all went down. It was quite a scene, with emergency personnel rushing in to help. The atmosphere was tense but everyone seemed focused on getting things under control.
Here’s one of the images I captured moments after it happened. You can see the train partially off the tracks, and you’ll notice the EMS team already on the scene assessing the situation. (Photo credit: Tim Olk)

The next shot shows another angle of the derailment. It's a bit chaotic, but as you can tell, there were a lot of people working together to ensure everything was safe and secure. It’s always impressive to see how quickly professionals spring into action during incidents like this. (Photo credit: Tim Olk)

And here’s yet another perspective that really highlights the scale of the incident. As someone who was right there, I can say it felt surreal watching something like this unfold. Thankfully, no major injuries were reported, which is a relief given the circumstances. (Photo credit: Tim Olk)

It’s always a reminder of how crucial it is to have well-trained teams on standby for situations like these. If you live nearby or were passing through, let me know what you saw! This kind of thing doesn’t happen every day, but when it does, it’s good to have eyes and cameras ready to document it.
Let’s hope they get things back up and running smoothly soon. In the meantime, if you’re heading through this area, expect some delays and keep an eye out for updates from local authorities. Stay safe out there!
