New engine and tanker for the Inverness FPD
Just saw this update from Horizon Fire Apparatus Chicagoland on Facebook! It looks like the Inverness Fire Protection District is making great progress with their new HME Ahrens-Fox fire apparatus. They recently wrapped up a pre-construction meeting for both the pumper and tender, and it sounds like they’ve been inspired by all the innovative ideas they picked up during their visit to the factory.
Of course, there’s still quite a bit of work ahead before these rigs are fully completed, but everyone involved seems really excited about what’s coming. From what I can tell, these vehicles are going to be something special—when they finally hit the road, they’ll definitely stand out as one of the most impressive pairs of fire equipment in the entire Chicagoland area!
Here are some photos shared by Horizon Fire Apparatus. These images give you a sneak peek at the design concepts and craftsmanship that go into building these custom fire trucks. The attention to detail is incredible, and it’s clear that every aspect has been carefully considered to ensure top performance. Can’t wait to see how everything comes together once these babies are ready to roll out!

**Update:** Since posting this earlier, I wanted to add a bit more context based on what people are saying in the comments. Some folks who follow the fire service closely mentioned that the tender truck in particular is going to feature some advanced water-handling capabilities, which could make a big difference in rural firefighting scenarios. Others chimed in with compliments about the paint job and decals, saying they look sharp and professional. It’s always interesting to hear different perspectives, especially from those who know the industry inside and out. Let’s keep cheering for the Inverness Fire Protection District as they bring these amazing vehicles to life!
